The Un-Master Class

What Is It?

The Un-Master Class® is a popular and unique performance workshop, developed by William Westney, and designed as a lively, engaging alternative to the traditional master-class. Starting with interactive group warm-ups, an environment is created that builds trust and breaks down barriers to artistic expression. The class then focuses on prepared performances by selected participants by

  • helping performers communicate compellingly with the audience,
  • reconnecting participants with their exuberant, natural physical intuition about music,
  • assisting performers to reach new, significant levels of artistry.

Who is it for?

Anyone can benefit – from professionals to amateurs – pianists, singers, string players, wind players, small ensembles, singers, jazz musicians, and even non-musicians.

Classes have been held internationally at hundreds of conferences, music-teachers’ meetings, universities, and music centers such as Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Manhattan School of Music, Central Conservatory (Beijing), University for Music and the Performing Arts (Vienna), Victorian College of the Arts (Melbourne), Peabody Conservatory, Holland Music Sessions, Aspen School of Music, Sibelius Academy (Helsinki), Royal Danish Academy of Music (Copenhagen), and Royal Conservatory (Toronto).
